IBPO’s Support of Academic Clubs: Speech & Debate

Our very own Mira Loma Speech & Debate Team, coached by Mr. Stinson, is winning left and right! They’ve qualified for the NCFL Nationals in Washington DC over Memorial Day weekend, and will find out early April if they qualify for the 2022 National Speech & Debate Tournament in Louisville, KY, June 12-17, 2022.

One of the roles of your IB Parent Organization is to offer support to programs that enrich your IB student’s experience at Mira Loma. We take great pride in offering the coaches of various academic teams, including Speech & Debate, stipends for their time and energy. The stipend is a valuable support to ensure that the team has a coach willing to give up the many, many weekends competition requires. Additionally, when teams qualify to compete in National events, your IBPO budgets for the coach’s travel, lodging, and food expenses.

We believe that offering this kind of monetary support to the academic team coaches allows for that “next level” high school experience for your student. THANK YOU to those families who see the value the IBPO offers to their students and have donated so that we can continue to support the IB program in so many ways!
